Tandem Skydiving in Kansas
The tandem skydive is the best way to feel the sky for the first time. With less than an hour of training, you will be ready to jump.
A tandem skydive at Skydive K-State costs $230 and is the easiest way to experience freefall. You are harnessed to a USPA-certified instructor, exit at 10,000 feet, and fall at about 120 mph before a five-minute canopy ride. You must be 18 or older and about 220 pounds or under.
Overview
What is a tandem skydive?
On a tandem skydive, one of our USPA-certified instructors guides you through the whole jump, from exit to landing. You wear a harness that attaches to your instructor at each shoulder and each hip. Your instructor's rig carries two parachutes, each sized for two people and built to bring you both safely back to earth. All you have to do is enjoy the view.
You will climb to nearly 2 miles in our Cessna 182, then jump together and reach speeds of 120 mph. You can deploy the parachute at 5,000 ft yourself, or leave that to your instructor. Once the parachute is open, you can help steer for a 5-minute ride down. Want it wild, or calm and gentle? Your call. Coming in to land, your instructor takes over for a soft, on-target touchdown.

What to Expect
Booking and what to expect
We offer tandems almost every weekend. Walk-ins are welcome, but it is best to schedule a few days ahead so we can confirm instructor availability. Plan to arrive about 30 minutes before your jump time to sign your waiver and meet your instructor. Training runs about 10 to 20 minutes and covers aircraft safety, body position, and landing.
Loved it and want more? If you decide skydiving is your sport, we take $50 off our solo First Jump Course after your tandem.

A word on discount skydives
We do not partner with third-party booking agencies. If you call a national toll-free number, you are not talking to Skydive K-State. Discount brokers may advertise lower prices, but there is no telling where they will send you to jump. Centers that take those low-margin deals have to push high volume just to break even, which often overworks their staff.
With us, you are never just a number. We take the time to train you well, pack your parachute carefully, triple-check our gear, and answer every question. We have standards. You would not shop around for the cheapest Lasik surgery. Why would you pay for a discount skydive?
Requirements
Requirements
- You must be 18 or older. This is a USPA requirement.
- Because of FAA limits on our equipment, the combined weight of the student, the instructor, and their gear must be under 500 pounds. In practice, that usually means you need to be at or below about 220 pounds.
- The tandem harness adjusts to fit a wide range of body types. The final call is up to your instructor and is made in the interest of safety, for you and for us.
- If you are at or just above the weight limit, email us and we will see if we can accommodate you.
